A group representing NGOs and opposition parliamentarians submitted a memorandum of protest and demand to the Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan on his statement that the army could be called in to quell protests, rallies and assemblies.
Many view this statement as a veiled threat to come down hard on participants to a rally scheduled for July 6 (tomorrow) against the hike in petrol prices and the subsequent increases in the prices of daily necessities.
