SEREMBAN,FRI: Aug 8, 2008
Pakatan Rakyat today lodged a report to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) following the Negeri Sembilan government’s move to cancel the State Legislative Assembly community service centre allowance of RM1,500 per month after the March general election.
“The excuse given by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan that it was the state government’s cost saving measure was undemocratic and a move to deny the elected representatives right to use the allocation for the welfare of the people generally,” said Negeri Sembilan Pas commissioner Zulkefli Mohamad Omar before lodging the report at the Negeri Sembilan ACA office.
“We are of the opinion that more money can be saved through efficient and transparent management in the operation of state government administration,” he added.
Present were state DAP chairman who is Rasah Member of Parliament and Lobak Assemblyman Loke Siew Fook, Sikamat Assemblyman Aminuddin Harun from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), state Pas Youth head and Paroi Assemblyman Mohamad Taufek Abdul Ghani, Senawang Assemblyman from DAP P. Gunasekaran, Port Dickson Assemblyman from PKR M. Ravi and Nilai Assemblyman from DAP Yap Yew Weng.
Zulkefly said Pakatan Rakyat also viewed seriously the appointment of 11 special officers to Menteri Besar whose salaries were paid fully by the state government and they were given the authority to sit in the district development committee meeting as well as district action committee meeting.
“If this continues, the state government has disregarded the role of Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives who were validly elected through elections,” he said.
