KOTA KINABALU: April 21, 2008 by Muguntan Vanar
Sabah was thrown into total darkness about 6.45pm Monday after a trip in the grid system connecting the various power stations.
As at press time at 10.30pm, power supply had yet to be restored.
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) officials said they could not immediately pinpoint the exact location of the trip.
Many consumers called up The Star here to complain that their telephones to the SESB hotline went unanswered.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said he had asked SESB to rectify the problem as soon as possible.
Musa, who is in Kuala Lumpur attend the Rulers Conference, said he had contacted SESB to find out the reason for the power outage.
He said it was believed the blackout was due to “power drag” at the independent power producing plant at Sepangar Bay.
